Major Seasons of Haryana

Seasons are a major feature of the climate of the state. According to meteorologists, three types of seasons are found in Haryana. In each season there is a difference in temperature, pressure, direction of winds and amount of rainfall and its duration.

The following are the three major seasons of the state:

1. Summer Season

  • The summer season in the state starts from April to the end of June. The average temperature in this season is around 35°C.
  • The highest temperature in the state is recorded only in May - June.
  • This season records a temperature of 40°C in Ambala and 46°C in Hisar in the state. Hisar is the hottest district of the state.
  • This season is generally dry i.e. humidity is very low.
  • Due to high temperature in this season, dust storm or Loo blows in the state, which is hot, dry and strong wind.
  • This storm blows in the South and South-West of the state. Loo normally blows in North India during summers.
  • Loo or storm absorbs the moisture of the crops, causing damaging of crops. .This storm also affects human health as it causes dehydration (lack of water in the body) and fever.
